The sounding board is the part of a string instrument (like a piano) that transmits the vibrations of the strings to the air, greatly increasing the loudness of sound over that of a string alone. It is also a generic name for a group of people bouncing ideas off of each other. This blog gives me a chance to “sound” things out loud and I hope I will be amplified by our interaction.

#1 Book?
My wife is trying to compile a list of the best books ever written (classics and more recent ones) and read those she has not read before. What would you recommend? What are those high school books that really stuck out in your mind? And what would you say is the #1 book of all time? (pretend "The Bible" doesn't count)

Honestly? Perelandra and The Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis), Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card), Eli (Bill Myers), Blue Like Jazz (Don Miller), A Prayer for Owen Meany (John Irving), Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton) ... I'm sure I could think of more, but those are the ones that come to mind first!
Loved the Perelandra series, haven't read "Blue Like Jazz", but hope to one day. Don't know Ender's game or Eli or A Prayer for Owen Meany. I'll have to check them out.
Joanna appreciates your input.
okay, here's the ones that i've read recently that are worth mentioning. "Sam's Letters to Jennifer" by James Patterson; "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult; "Born on a Blue Day" by Daniel Tammet; "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks; "Harvesting the Heart" by Jodi Picoult and "Sandcastles" by Luanne Rice wasn't bad either. There is another one called "God's Blogs" by Lanny Donoho that was really good. Already let Hope read it and she loved it too.
Can ya tell I'm a bookworm?
