Christianity is not about...

"Christianity is not about publishing books!"

This was a statement from a friend at my church as we were discussing environmental issues, church life, and other deep ideas.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a seminary student - so there's a natural love of books built into me.

However, I sometimes wonder if we as Christians build people up too much who publish (inter?)nationally (books, music, sermons). There's not anything wrong with writing a book, but it can seem sometimes that I can fall in love with another person's writings more than the words of God. And there's just something disturbing about that.

I'm thankful for those who have gone before me and written down their thoughts on life, love, and the pursuit of God... maybe it's me that the issue is with and not the authors... in fact, I know it is.

God help me to place you highest, not other people, no matter how Godly they might be or how wise they sound.
