Wow! The movie was better than I expected. I was pretty sure that most of the graphics would be impressive, but I didn't know how good "Aslan" would be. He exceeded my expectations & Liam Neeson's voice was perfect for the Lion! I was surprised that most of the people watching it with me didn't know what was going to happen in the movie (even though most professed to have read the book). And thank goodness I finally have an image to put with the word, "Turkish Delight."
After watching the movie with the youth from several churches in our area, we went to a gym at a local children's home and held a rally. We were late starting because the movie was late getting out, but other than that, it was a blast also. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance. The Hook FM supplied us 2 DJ's, a Pepsi Trailer, and three vehicles with lights sound systems and video games inside. The DJ's (PK & Nugget) kept us entertained and helped us do some giveaways- but we found out they're not very good at basketball.
We told a little bit about the author and the allegory in the movie and then asked the youth to think about putting their life and their plans in God's hands, much like the children did with Aslan. Overall, I think the night was successful, though I wish more churches and people would have been involved as I thought it was a wonderful image of God and the church.
Future Post (Thursday/Friday): I haven't shaken my gifts... yet!
