Feeding our ego is not always the best thing to do, I'm finding out. Even though it hurt a little to get constructive criticism on my poem, I think it has been made better because of it. Here it is in its entirety (it's long- so get prepared)
Darkness surrounding.
Searching for a way out
Of meaningless searching.
Grabbing hold of hopeful light
Only to find fireflies dying.
Light Breaking through,
Once the focus is The Light,
Overpowering the blackness construed.
Father of Lights bring salvation -
Light Breaking through
Clouds roll in as the breeze blows,
Life is so cold and bleak.
Light seems dim as weather flows,
Leading the way for questions
Filled with doubt and sorrow.
Light Breaking through,
Once the focus is within,
Overpowering the blackness construed.
Father of Lights bring assurance, with
Light Breaking through
The Light within holds fast.
Failures splash mud outside
Covering That which lasts,
Weakening the house of light
And all that will surpass.
Light Breaking through,
Once the focus is restoration,
Overpowering the blackness construed.
Father of Lights bring Your fire, with
Light Breaking through
The sky is clear and bright,
Making a wonder to behold.
Designs are made by many lights
Working from the Father’s plan,
To serve eyes that are wide.
Light Breaking through,
Once the focus is togetherness,
Overpowering the blackness construed.
Father of Lights bring unity, with
Light Breaking through
Fear of the dark
Makes acolytes ache.
Evil pervades with a constant mark,
Nowhere escapes the struggle
Until the house makes a spark.
Light Breaking through,
Once the focus is the least,
Overpowering the blackness construed.
Father of Lights bring release, with
Light Breaking through
Though storms may come
And darkness may fall,
Nothing will separate Father and son.
The light that stands with The Source
Will shine forever while victory’s won -
