Video Week (bonus), Part 5

So, I finished the video of Isaiah's baptism a little earlier than I thought I'd be able to, so enjoy this bonus to video week. Isaiah was baptized on October 25, 2009 at Hope Springs Community Church in Lexington, KY. Both sets of grandparents were present as well as our good friends the Vandenbergh's and the Norrod's (Paul did the video - thanks Paul!!!).

Every day this week (ok - four days, but a week sounds better), I have set up a video to be posted on my blog of my son. Enjoy #1.

prayer for children, part II

Many months ago, I posted "prayer for children." I ended up not finishing this project for two reasons: time & I made it too difficult, trying to fit everything into one prayer. Through the past three months, rather than putting pen to paper, I just began singing acapello prayers to Isaiah and this song developed out of it. If I can find a way to sing it and record it, I'll post it here (I'm very proud of this little tune). No title at this point - that's always the hardest part of writing poems for me (any suggestions?).
There are some allusions to biblical themes and scripture within this short song, but I'll leave it for you to make the connections for yourself.

baptism photos

On October 25, Isaiah was baptized at Hope Springs Community Church (where we attend in Lexington, KY). He didn't cry when the water was placed on his head, just grunted a little. What a wonderful experience of God's grace through this sacrament and the community of believers surrounding us. Isaiah's grandparents made it for the service as well. (a video will follow).

the joy of smiling

Isaiah has started smiling over the past week. Here's a couple of great shots of him making his parents go gaga over him.

This week I have faced some inner struggles that has kept me up at night and ashamed I'm not past these same old temptations. But seeing Isaiah's smile has reminded me that: "His anger is but for a moment,His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night,But a shout of joy comes in the morning" Psalm 30:5.
